SBU Plastics is focused on sales, marketing and technical support of standard and technical thermoplastics, master batches, raw materials and processing aids for the plastics converting and manufacturing industry. Furthermore, SBU also offers a complete range of raw materials for the reinforced plastics and a impressive range for the polyurethane industry.

One of the most important partner for the business unit is SABIC Europe BV, a SABIC subsidiary that includes all SABIC’s activities in Europe. SABIC Europe aims at becoming the strongest petrochemical company in Europe, based on backward integration in olefins, cost leadership and growth. Bang&Bonsomer is cooperating with SABIC Europe in the Baltic countries, Belarus and Russia.

 
PIPE POLYMERS

One of the focus areas of SABIC  is pipe, and especially High Density Polyethylene grades. A new plant with more than doubled capacity compared to the old one is expected to be on stream at the end of 2008.

Bang & Bonsomer is promoting together with SABIC a new generation of PE-HD, the bimodal polyethylene PE100 for gas and potable water pipes. Market development especially in Russia is very promising. PE100 pipes are used to replace conventional materials (such as ductile iron for gas distribution and concrete for water). Greater safety for gas and reduced water losses are key drivers for suppliers especially at the developing market. PE100 enables the minimum wall thickness possible, which gives a greater internal diameter. Possible outside diameters range with SABIC’s PE100 is from 16 mm to 1600 mm.
